Pahrump Valley High School senior Aliana Zuniga secured third place at the Regional Golf Tournament, earning her a spot in the Nevada State Golf Tournament for the fourth consecutive year. Zuniga posted impressive scores of 83 and 84 over two days, placing her among the top individual golfers advancing to State.
The tournament, held at Boulder Creek Golf Club, saw top performances from athletes across the region. Boulder City’s Emmerson Hinds took first place with rounds of 74 and 72, followed closely by Virgin Valley’s Abigail Llewellyn, who finished second with rounds of 79 and 76. Zuniga’s strong performance earned her third place, with others, such as Virgin Valley’s Davie Slack (88-85), Boulder City’s Riley Elder (88-94), and Coral Academy’s Julie Kim (91-91), rounding out the top finishers.
“Ali played real well both days but struggled a little the last four holes today,” said PVHS Girls’ Golf Head Coach Bob Hopkins. “State is in Dayton on Tuesday and Wednesday, and we’re excited to see her compete again.”
Zuniga’s qualification for State is a testament to her dedication and skill, as this marks her fourth and final year qualifying for the prestigious tournament during her high school career. She will travel to Dayton to compete on Tuesday and Wednesday alongside the best high school golfers in Nevada.
The team championship was claimed by Boulder City, whose depth and consistency led them to victory. As Zuniga prepares for her final appearance at the State Tournament, the PVHS community stands behind her, proud of her outstanding high school golf career.
