The Pahrump Valley High School boys’ and girls’ tennis teams protected their home courts Wednesday, Sept. 9, as both squads earned victories over Adelson.

The Trojan girls secured a 10-5 win, while the boys edged Adelson 10-8 in a match that remained close through all three rounds.

Pahrump’s girls opened the afternoon by claiming four of the six available points. Mia Alvarez contributed a singles victory, while the doubles teams of Milly Khandpur and Nyomi Skinner and Lily Gregory and Wendy Rodríguez Ortiz also earned wins. Kimberly Hernandez and Sophia Mejia Jimenez added another point for the Trojans.

The girls maintained their advantage by winning four more matches during the second round. Chanel Anthony recorded a 6-2 singles victory, while Khandpur and Skinner posted a decisive 6-1 doubles win. Gregory and Rodríguez Ortiz added another victory, helping Pahrump carry an 8-4 lead into the final rotation.

Alvarez collected her second singles victory during the third round, while Khandpur and Skinner completed a strong afternoon with their third doubles win. The final two points gave Pahrump the 10-5 team victory.

The boys’ match was even after the opening round, with each team winning three matches. Pahrump received a singles victory and two doubles wins, including a closely contested 7-5 result from Taysom Christensen and Chase Hansen. Solomon Wagner and his doubles partner added a 6-1 victory.

Pahrump created some separation during the second round by winning four of the six matches. Jace Eichner earned a 6-4 singles victory, and Ethan Johnson followed with a 6-1 win.

Brendan Torres and Tristan Torres contributed a 6-1 doubles victory. Christensen and Hansen won by the same score, giving the pair its second victory of the match and sending Pahrump into the final round with a 7-5 advantage.

Adelson remained within reach as the teams divided the six matches in the final rotation. Eichner added his second singles victory with a 6-1 result, while Brendan Torres and Tristan Torres secured their second doubles win, also by a 6-1 score. Wagner and his partner closed their day with a 6-0 victory.

By splitting the last six points, Pahrump preserved its two-point advantage and completed the 10-8 win. The combined performances gave the Trojans a successful afternoon, with the girls and boys earning victories in front of their home crowd.
