The Pahrump Valley High School junior varsity boys’ volleyball team delivered a strong performance at home on Wednesday, April 1, earning a straight-sets victory over Cristo Rey with energy, teamwork and consistent execution from start to finish.

The Trojans came out firing in the opening set, quickly establishing control behind a dominant service run by Xavier Campos. From the first serve, Pahrump set the tone, jumping out to a 3-0 lead with an ace and continuing to apply pressure as Cristo Rey struggled to return serves cleanly. That momentum only grew, with the Trojans rattling off point after point to build a commanding 8-0 advantage.

Throughout the set, Pahrump mixed aggressive serving with smart placement at the net. George Anderson contributed with a well-placed tip, while Kayden Doubleday showcased his touch with multiple soft taps that found open space on the floor. The Trojans capitalized on Cristo Rey miscues, including a ball played into the ceiling, and continued to extend their lead.

Blake Edie-Dixon added to the surge late in the set, recording consecutive aces to push the score further out of reach. Despite a few brief rallies and points from Cristo Rey, the Trojans maintained control and closed out the set with a convincing 25-10 win.

The second set brought a more competitive pace, as Cristo Rey responded with improved play and kept the score close early. After trading points to begin the set, the Trojans found their rhythm again through steady serves and disciplined play at the net.

Daniel Chavez provided a spark from the service line, delivering back-to-back aces to give Pahrump a 11-7 lead. Anderson continued to be a factor as well, adding another ace to help the Trojans maintain their edge. Doubleday and Edie-Dixon both contributed offensively, combining timely hits and controlled touches to keep Cristo Rey on the defensive.

Midway through the set, Cristo Rey closed the gap and made things interesting, capitalizing on a few Trojan errors to narrow the score. However, Pahrump responded with composure, stringing together key points down the stretch. Doubleday added another well-placed hit, and Anderson stepped up once again at the service line, delivering a pair of aces to help seal the match.

With a 25-21 win in the second set, the Trojans secured the sweep and continued to show growth as a team in their inaugural season.

The victory highlighted not only strong individual performances, but also the team’s ability to work together, adjust to momentum swings and finish strong—an encouraging sign as the season continues.
