The Pahrump Valley High School girls’ varsity basketball team delivered a complete road performance Wednesday night, January 7, pulling away early and maintaining control throughout an 51–8 win over the Cristo Rey Royals.

Pahrump Valley set the pace from the opening tip. The Trojans won possession and immediately settled into their offense, finding Ella Odegard cutting down the lane for the game’s first basket. On the next trip, Odegard worked to the left block and banked in another shot, giving Pahrump a quick 4–0 lead.

Applying full-court pressure from the outset, the Trojans forced turnovers and capitalized on second chances. A rebound and score extended the margin, and Riley Saldaña followed with a strong drive that drew contact, converting both free throws to make it 8–0. Moments later, Saldaña finished a layup off a steal, pushing the lead to double digits.

Cristo Rey briefly got on the board midway through the first quarter, but Pahrump responded quickly. Addi Nelsen created a turnover on the press and fed Kaitlyn Brown for a basket. Brown then picked off a pass of her own, earning a trip to the line and knocking down both free throws. By the end of the first quarter, the Trojans had built a 16–2 advantage.

The momentum continued in the second quarter as Odegard attacked the basket early, followed by a series of interior scores from Saldaña, who showcased a mix of finishes, including a reverse layup and multiple post moves. Autumn Colon drew contact on a shot, and Cindal Monahan added a mid-paint jumper to keep the scoreboard moving.

Brown contributed again with a rebound and finish, and just before the halftime horn, Nelsen drained a three-pointer from the top of the key. Pahrump Valley entered the break with a commanding 33–3 lead.

The second half provided extended minutes for the Trojans’ depth, with the JV squad stepping in and continuing the team’s consistent play. Cindal Monahan went to the free-throw line and converted both attempts, while Emily Zaragoza also made the most of her trip to the stripe. Adrian Rogers added a basket inside, and Sydney Crotty cleaned up a rebound for a score late in the third quarter. An Autumn Colon steal led to a full-court layup just before the buzzer, closing the third at 43–7.

In the final period, Kaylan Robinson opened the scoring, and Julie Briggs delivered a series of timely plays, assisting on a cut to Saldaña before scoring three times herself as the bench erupted in support. Pahrump Valley closed out the night with steady execution, sealing the 51–8 road victory.

The Trojans’ balanced scoring, consistent pressure, and contributions from across the roster highlighted a strong team effort as they continue their season.
