The Pahrump Valley High School tennis program made a strong showing at the Class 3A Southern Region Tournament, held Thursday and Friday, October 16–17, at Bishop Gorman High School. Competing against some of the region’s toughest athletes, the Trojans demonstrated skill and composure on the court—highlighted by junior standout Chanel Anthony, who claimed the regional championship title and advanced to the State Tournament.
Anthony dominated throughout her matches, closing out the finals with a decisive 6–0, 6–0 victory. Her consistency and focus carried her through the bracket, earning her a well-deserved ticket to State, which will also take place at Bishop Gorman High School on Friday, October 25.

Her teammates also delivered impressive results in both singles and doubles play. Jace Eichner secured a commanding 6–0, 6–1 win, while Lucas Johnson followed with a near-perfect 6–1, 6–0 performance. On the girls’ side, Nyomi Skinner prevailed 6–1, 6–2, showing her trademark patience and strategic play.
In doubles action, Juan Rodriguez and Sonny Skinner outlasted their opponents in a thrilling tiebreaker, winning 7–6(5), 6–3 to move forward in the draw. Meanwhile, doubles partners Layla Burnell and Milly Khandpur earned a first-round bye on Thursday and took to the courts Friday for their matchup.
The Trojans’ results reflect a season of hard work and growth under the leadership of Head Coach Michael Dela Rosa, whose players consistently improved throughout league and postseason play. With Anthony advancing to State, PVHS tennis continues to make its mark on Nevada’s competitive tennis scene.
