The Pahrump Valley High School Trojans volleyball team continued their strong season on Tuesday, September 2, with a commanding 3-0 win over the Democracy Prep Blue Knights at home. Backed by sharp serving, strong net play, and steady defense, the Trojans never allowed the visiting team to settle in as they rolled through all three sets.

The opening set set the tone early. Heavenly Ware’s serving run included multiple aces and forced Blue Knight errors, while Marayah Waller came up with a key block at the net. Riley Saldaña added a kill to extend the lead, and a string of aces from Myah Krolczyk pushed the advantage to 15-7. Ware’s dominant serving continued late in the set, rattling off a series of aces to help secure the 25-16 win, capped by an ace from libero Sedona Norton.

The Trojans carried their momentum into the second set. Nala Dalton opened with consistent serving before Ware again delivered from the line, scoring on aces and powering through kills at the net. Waller and Xe’ane Kamanu both added offensive firepower, while Norton delivered a serving run that included multiple aces. The Trojans were in full control, racing out to a 22-2 lead before closing the set 25-4 on a Ware kill.

In the third set, Pahrump wasted no time putting the match away. Kamanu opened with back-to-back aces, Ware followed with kills, and the Trojans jumped to a 10-0 lead. Krolczyk and Dalton each added more service aces, while Waller delivered a late kill to keep the momentum rolling. A strong finish by Ware sealed the sweep, as the Trojans closed the set 25-4.

Head Coach Amber Lugo praised her team’s calm, collected performance. “If we had to pick a player of the game, it would be Heavenly for serving all those points,” Lugo said. “But really, they all just kept it nice and calm and collected, exactly as I asked them to.” Lugo noted that the Trojans’ ability to stay focused allowed them to stay in control across all three sets.

The win comes on the heels of a busy tournament weekend where Pahrump Valley went 5-3. The tournament, hosted at Liberty and Coronado High Schools included wins against Mineral County, Mater East, Maui Prep (out of Hawaii) – defeating them twice, and Basic High School, and losses against Southeast Career Tech, Campbell High School (out of Hawaii) and Liberty . Lugo called it “the most fun I’ve ever had at a high school tournament,” crediting both the atmosphere and the learning opportunities. “We just keep seeing new things across the net and figuring out what’s going on on our side,” she said. The weekend also gave younger players valuable varsity experience, including a freshman who was permanently moved up after impressing in her opportunity.

With the sweep of Democracy Prep, Lugo said she is proud of how her players continue to grow. “They just keep showing up and learning, and their IQs are getting better all the time,” she said. “They’re just so fun to be around.”

The Trojans will return to action Thursday at Cristo Rey as league play continues.

i’m so proud of the Lady Trojans accomplishments. Especially the Freshman, Sedona Norton. She Playa like she’s played it her whole life.
But the whole team is amazing.
