Coming off a dominant 15-0 win against Del Sol on Saturday, March 29, the Pahrump Valley High School Trojans carried their momentum into Monday’s home game against The Meadows. In the shutout against Del Sol, the Trojans scored seven runs in the first inning and eight more in the second to end the game in just three innings. Despite recording only four hits, PVHS reached base 17 times thanks to 16 walks and a hit by pitch—demonstrating their patience at the plate and ability to capitalize on every opportunity.

Trojans Dominate Mustangs at Home, 15-3

The Pahrump Valley High School Trojans’ softball team showed their offensive strength and solid defense in a commanding 15-3 home win against The Meadows Mustangs on Monday, March 31.

The Trojans wasted no time putting pressure on the Mustangs. After holding the visiting team scoreless in the top of the first, Autumn Colon got things started for PVHS by drawing a walk and showing aggressive baserunning. She stole second and capitalized on a fielding error to race all the way home, giving the Trojans their first run.

Danika Cox-Hosino followed with a walk and another stolen base, setting the stage for Evalenne Armendariz’s deep fly to center. Though it resulted in an out, it moved the game forward. Then, Sunday Colon crushed a two-run homer over the left field fence, igniting the home crowd and extending the lead to 3-0.

From there, the Trojans never looked back. In the bottom of the second, Kayla Glenn drew a walk and later scored on a series of passed balls and errors. With heads-up baserunning and timely hits, Pahrump Valley batted around the order. Sunday added a triple that hugged the left field line, scoring two more runs before scoring herself on a passed ball. By the end of the inning, the Trojans were up 14-0.

Pahrump Valley kept the pressure on through the third and fourth innings. Sunday singled and Mariah Gray reached on a deflected ball through the infield. Madison Rodriguez came through with an RBI hit, and the team kept capitalizing on every opportunity.

Autumn Colon added a solo homer in the bottom of the fourth, her second extra-base hit of the day, making it 15-3.

On the mound, Kayla Glenn kept The Meadows largely in check with strong pitching, backed by smart plays from the defense, including several outs at second base and a solid showing at shortstop from Madison Rodriguez.

Head Coach Brian Hayes said after the game, “We did what we needed to do to this team. Our biggest concern with where we’re at is making sure that we’re ready for Boulder on Friday because we’re playing some weaker teams before then, and we need to make sure we’re ready for a tough one.”

With this win under their belt, the Trojans will continue to prepare for stiffer competition, carrying confidence and momentum into their upcoming matchup.
