The Pahrump Valley High School (PVHS) Trojans girls’ basketball team put on a commanding performance against the American Heritage Academy (AHA) Patriots on Tuesday, January 7, securing a 48-11 victory on the road. The Trojans showcased exceptional teamwork and skill throughout the game, building momentum early and maintaining control until the final buzzer.

The game opened with Riley Saldana setting the tone, scoring the first two baskets to give the Trojans a quick 4-0 lead. Saldana continued to dominate the paint, contributing eight points in the first quarter alone. Savannah Thompson added to the offensive firepower with a layup and an assist, helping the Trojans finish the first quarter with a 16-6 lead.

In the second quarter, the Trojans extended their lead with key plays from Ryleigh Denton and Nala Dalton. Denton’s three-pointer from the right side and Dalton’s rebound-and-putback highlighted a quarter where PVHS outscored AHA 14-0, taking a 30-6 advantage into halftime.

The Trojans continued their dominance in the second half, with Dalton and Saldana teaming up for several baskets and Angela Allen contributing from the left block. Autumn Colon and Aurora Bowers also joined the scoring effort in the final quarter, capping off a well-rounded team performance. The Trojans held the Patriots to just five points in the second half, securing the 48-11 win.

Head Coach Bob Hopkins praised his team’s effort and camaraderie, noting the opportunity for all players to contribute. “It was a fun game for our kids. Everybody got to play, and that’s always fun. Autumn and Addy finally got their chances to shoot, and they made it count. It’s great to see the team coming together like this,” Hopkins said.

Despite the win, the Trojans are still navigating challenges with their roster. “We’re looking forward to having everyone back on the court. Natalie was sick, and Jules is still out. But the girls stepped up today, and I couldn’t be prouder,” Hopkins added.

The PVHS Trojans demonstrated their depth and resilience, setting the stage for future games as they continue their season with confidence.
