The Prickly Pear: A Sisterly Bond Blossoms into a New Business in Pahrump

The Prickly Pear, a unique boutique business owned by twin sisters Heather Williams and Hannah McMahon, has quickly become a charming addition to Pahrump’s local shopping scene. The sisters embarked on this business venture less than a year ago, fueled by a shared vision of creativity and connection. Nestled inside the Boss Babe Artisan Boutique at 2160 East Calvada, The Prickly Pear offers a blend of handmade bath and body products, home decor, and specialty items that reflect the sisters’ eclectic tastes.

Heather, who had been creating bath and body products for some time, initially sought a local outlet to sell her handmade goods. However, as the idea grew, she realized it could become more than just a solo project. “I wanted a place locally to sell my handmade bath and body products and quickly realized that it should be a sister project,” Heather explained. “I asked Hannah if she would like to bring her amazing handmade decor and some other things, and we decided to let this be just one more thing for us to experience together.”

The duo’s creative synergy is apparent in every aspect of their business. Heather and Hannah have not only brought their individual passions into The Prickly Pear but also infused the shop with a sense of purpose. “We’re an eclectic shop,” Hannah noted. “One of the fun things we offer are mocktails for people who want to cut back on alcohol or stop drinking completely,” Heather added. “We’ve brought in elixirs that allow people to make mixed drinks without alcohol.”

Hannah, currently pursuing a teaching degree while handcrafting many of the shop’s home decor items, brings her artistic flair to The Prickly Pear. “It’s a chance for us to express ourselves and help others,” Heather added. “That’s really the philosophy behind our business—self-expression and service.”

One of their proudest achievements so far is the overwhelmly positive response from customers who have embraced the mocktails. “We’re most proud of the feedback we’ve received from people who have tried our mocktails and said they’ve cut back on their drinking,” Heather shared. “It feels good to know we’re offering something that is helping people.” In addition to their beverage offerings, the sisters are introducing at-home anti-choking kits, which will soon be available to customers. “We’re really excited about offering these kits so people can have them on hand if they’re ever needed,” she said.

Building their business has not been without its challenges. “Our biggest hurdle was deciding on the shop’s offerings,” Heather recalled with a laugh. “In the end, we met in the middle and found a great compromise that customers are happy with.” Despite the early challenges, Heather and Hannah have enjoyed curating a mix of products that reflect the latest trends. “We still have an office full of new products we haven’t even put out yet,” Hannah said. “We’re having fun staying on top of trends we think will benefit the community the most.”

Their presence at the Boss Babe Artisan Boutique has been a natural fit. “The second I walked into Boss Babe, I knew it was going to be the cutest place in Pahrump,” Heather said. “It’s a really adorable shop, and we couldn’t pass up the opportunity to be part of it. They’ve been very friendly and supportive of us.”

The Prickly Pear is also making an impact beyond its storefront. Heather and Hannah have participated in local events by offering chair massages at grand openings, fostering community connections through their involvement. “We love doing that—it’s a great way to give back to the community,” Heather remarked.

Looking toward the future, the sisters hope to continue building The Prickly Pear while maintaining their close partnership. “We want this to be a long-term project for us as sisters,” Heather said. “The goal is to keep working together and create some passive income.” The sisters are happy operating within Boss Babe, and they have big plans for the coming months. “We’ll be introducing lots of new products soon, and we’re excited about what’s ahead,” Heather added.

With their passion, creativity, and commitment to helping others, Heather and Hannah have crafted more than just a business—they’ve created a space that brings joy to their customers and strengthens their sisterly bond. The Prickly Pear is already making a mark in Pahrump, offering the community a blend of unique products and healthy lifestyle options, and the sisters are just getting started.
