The Pahrump Valley High School (PVHS) girls’ golf team kicked off their season with a home opener at the Mountain Falls Golf Course, hosting a competitive match against Virgin Valley, Boulder City, Meadows, Moapa, and Coral Academy. The event featured 27 golfers, but only 12 were able to play through the entire course, with the cutoff set at 17 over par for the first half.

Among the top performers, Aliana Zuniga from Pahrump stood out, finishing in 5th place with a solid score of 90. This achievement placed her among the top competitors in the field, highlighting her potential for the upcoming season. The top spot was claimed by Abigail Llewellyn from Virgin Valley who shot a 72, followed by Emmerson Hinds from Boulder City in 2nd with a 73, Iris Sim from Meadows in 3rd with an 84, and Makenzie Martorano from Boulder City in 4th with an 88.

PVHS Head Coach Bob Hopkins praised Zuniga’s performance, noting, “Ali hit the snot out of the ball but didn’t chip very well. That’s what we will be working on in the upcoming practices.” With this constructive feedback, Zuniga and her teammates are looking forward to refining their skills as they prepare for their next match.

The PVHS girls’ golf team will continue their season next Tuesday, August 27, at the Casablanca in Virgin Valley, where they hope to build on their promising start.
