Pahrump Valley High School cross country runners Logan Tilley and Ava Bowers have been selected as Pahrump Valley Community News’ September Student Athletes of the Month, recognizing their dedication, progress and contributions to the Trojans’ team.
Head Coach Erik Odegard nominated Tilley and Bowers for the recognition. They joined nominees from all PVHS fall sports, with staff at PVHS voting to select September’s honorees.
Tilley earned his nomination through consistent effort and the example he sets for his teammates. Odegard described him as a strong leader for the cross country program over the past few years, praising his daily commitment and his ability to encourage those around him.
By leading through his own work, Tilley pushes his teammates to achieve their best. That combination of dedication and support for fellow runners helped distinguish him as both an athlete and a teammate.
Bowers, who joined cross country this year, has made substantial progress in her first season. Odegard credited her hard work at every practice and her winning mentality with helping her develop into one of the top runners in the Southern 3A region.
Her willingness to push herself has been central to that growth. Bowers’ commitment to improving earned her coach’s nomination and the support of PVHS staff in this month’s vote.
Both honorees also receive gifts donated by local community partners. September’s supporters include Our Place Coffee, Dairy Queen, FD Candy, Pizza Hut, Sol Mio, Newvine Law, PVHS Class of ’86 and PVCNPhotos.
Their generosity helps Pahrump Valley Community News celebrate the students whose efforts contribute to PVHS athletics. For September, that recognition belongs to two cross country teammates making an impact through leadership, daily work and a drive to improve.
