The Pahrump Valley High School girls JV basketball team put together a strong all-around performance at home on Wednesday, Dec. 10, earning a 39–18 victory over Amplus Academy and continuing to show steady growth as the season moves forward.
The Lady Trojans set the tone immediately, taking the opening possession and striking first when Jaycie Hayes raced in for a half-court layup to make it 2–0. Pahrump’s pressure defense and quick ball movement kept Amplus on its heels early, with Adrian Rogers scoring twice in transition to extend the lead to 6–0. Rogers continued to be aggressive on both ends of the floor, adding a bank shot to push the advantage to 8–0.
Aurora Bowers contributed on the glass and in transition, pulling down a rebound and finishing to make it 10–0. Late in the first quarter, Emily Zaragoza knocked down a smooth jump shot from the right corner, and Kimberly Trejo capped the period by scoring on the left block after a well-timed pass from Ariana Apolinar, giving the Lady Trojans a 14–0 lead at the end of the quarter.

In the second quarter, Raegan Saldaña made her presence felt inside, grabbing rebounds and scoring from underneath to help Pahrump maintain control. Saldaña added another basket on a strong drive, building the lead to 20–6 before Amplus responded with a pair of baskets to close the half. The Lady Trojans went into halftime holding a 20–8 advantage.
Pahrump came out of the break with renewed energy, and Aurora Bowers immediately made an impact with back-to-back steals that turned into half-court layups, extending the lead to 24–8. The Lady Trojans handled Amplus’ pressure well, scoring on a press break and then again in transition to make it 30–10. Ava Bowers added a steal on defense, while Abbey Sutton set up Saldaña with a clean assist for another basket. Apolinar closed out the quarter by knocking down a jumper from the free-throw line area, sending Pahrump into the fourth quarter ahead 34–10.

The Lady Trojans continued to execute in the final period, with Apolinar hitting a jumper from the right corner and Hayes sprinting the length of the floor for another full-court layup. Hayes later added a free throw after drawing contact on a drive. Defensively, Saldaña forced a jump ball, and Pahrump stayed disciplined to close out the game.
With balanced scoring, active defense, and strong teamwork, the Lady Trojans secured the 39–18 win and showcased the effort and chemistry that continues to develop within the JV squad.
