The Civil Air Patrol (CAP) at Pahrump Valley High School welcomed families to an open house on Saturday, February 22, 2025, offering a firsthand look at the program’s mission, training, and opportunities for local youth. The event provided an opportunity for interested students and parents to learn about CAP’s three core areas—cadet programs, aerospace education, and emergency services—while meeting current cadets and leadership.
Now led by Squadron Leader Amie Sitter-Jones, the CAP program in Pahrump has grown into a thriving initiative dedicated to developing leadership, discipline, and life-saving skills for cadets ages 12 to 21. Attendees at the open house explored hands-on activities, learned about the benefits of the program, and were given the opportunity to ask questions to current cadets.
CAP’s impact extends beyond the military, though it operates with a structured, uniformed approach. The program offers youth valuable skills in aviation, leadership, and search and rescue, without requiring military enlistment. During the event, cadets shared their experiences, highlighting opportunities such as flight training, search-and-rescue missions, and participation in state and national CAP programs, including the annual Encampment at Wendover Air Force Base.
Families also had the chance to see how CAP fosters personal growth and career readiness. The program meets Thursdays at 6:30 PM in Room 212 at PVHS, with ongoing enrollment open to interested students. The open house was a glimpse into CAP’s commitment to service, education, and leadership—preparing the next generation for success both in and out of uniform.
